Laser Skin Resurfacing

Do you suffer from wrinkles, acne scars, facial scarring, and sun-damaged skin? Fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing allows us to remove damaged skin tissues and stimulate collagen production, helping you achieve smooth, flawless skin.

Reveal Flawless Skin

Your skin is a protective barrier, constantly exposed to ultraviolet rays, sunlight, environmental pollutants, bacteria, viruses, and toxins. Over time, your skin sustains considerable damage from sources both internal and external, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, scarring, and other textural irregularities and pigmentation problems. If your skin looks worn and damaged, laser skin resurfacing in Houston is an excellent solution — it essentially replaces your damaged skin with new, healthy skin, making you look radiant.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a minimally-invasive procedure that uses laser energy to improve the appearance of your skin. The laser light penetrates the top layer of skin, called the epidermis, and heats the underlying skin, called the dermis. This process stimulates the production of collagen, a protein that makes skin appear youthful and supple. Laser skin resurfacing can treat numerous skin concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and acne scars.

Laser skin resurfacing can be done with an ablative or non-ablative laser. Ablative lasers remove the top layers of skin, while non-ablative lasers work below the surface of the skin to stimulate the growth of new collagen. We perform laser skin resurfacing using a cutting-edge fractional laser device that removes the uppermost layers of the damaged skin to reveal smoother, softer, and newer skin underneath while triggering collagen production.

Our Device: Lumenis CO2 UltraPulse

We perform laser skin resurfacing in Houston using the cutting-edge Lumenis CO2 UltraPulse, one of the most powerful CO2 lasers in the aesthetic industry. UltraPulse can penetrate deeper into the skin to trigger collagen production. Furthermore, the DeepFX and ActiveFX fractional modes provide optimal versatility, allowing us to target your specific needs and concerns without damaging the surrounding skin. The CoolScan technology also ensures optimal comfort during your treatment.

Dr. Erickson’s Laser Skin Resurfacing Technique

Laser skin resurfacing is performed as an outpatient procedure. Before the procedure, your medical provider will give you a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area. Next, they will use a laser to remove the top layer of your skin. The laser will then penetrate deeper into your skin to stimulate collagen production. You may feel a warm sensation as the laser moves over your skin. The procedure takes around 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete.

Recovery After Laser Skin Resurfacing

After the procedure, the treated area will be slightly red and swollen and feel like a sunburn. The recovery takes about two weeks, during which the skin will peel and flake off. It is important to avoid sun exposure during this time, as the skin will be extra sensitive.

The Results of Laser Skin Resurfacing

After the skin has healed, you will be left with fresh, smooth skin with a more youthful appearance. The results appear gradually over several weeks as your body produces new collagen fibers. The final results can last for years, and touch-ups can be done as needed to maintain results.
