Breast Lift

If your breasts are drooping, a breast lift can give you the youthful, perky look you want. Breasts can droop for several reasons, including weight loss, pregnancy, and aging, but Dr. Erickson’s personalized breast lift can restore youthful contours.

The Erickson Difference

Dr. Erickson understands that each woman is unique and has unique goals. To that end, he curates highly personalized treatments based on your unique anatomical considerations and expectations. Since no two women are the same, no two breast surgeries are alike. Dr. Erickson aims to elevate your contours, reverse the effects of age and childbirth on your breasts, and ensure natural-looking results that conform to your goals. That’s the Erickson difference.

What is Breast Lift?

A breast lift (or mastopexy) is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts to help you achieve a youthful breast contour. The procedure involves removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissues to support the new breast shape. While a breast lift can raise sagging breasts, it can’t add volume. If you want to enhance or reduce your breast size, you can combine a breast lift with a breast augmentation or reduction.

Goals of Breast Lift:

  • Removing excess sagging skin from the breasts
  • Improving the contour and shape of the breasts
  • Making the breasts look more firm and youthful
  • Making the nipples and areolas point forward
  • Reducing the size of the areola
  • Making the breasts look perky and lifted

Dr. Erickson’s Breast Lift Technique

Dr. Erickson offers personalized breast lift surgery after a thorough evaluation. He discusses your goals, measures the degree of laxity, and curates a personalized treatment plan. One of the biggest decisions is the style and location of the incision used. The type of incision will be determined based on the size and shape of your breasts, the degree of droop, your skin elasticity, and the amount of excess skin that needs to be removed.

Your breast lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation at our accredited surgical facility. Dr. Erickson will start by making one of these incisions:

  • Areolar Incision: This is a circular incision around the areola (the darker skin around the nipple). From this incision, the surgeon can remove excess skin, reshape the breast, and lift the nipple to a higher position. This incision heals well and doesn’t leave visible scars.
  • Lollipop Incision: This is an incision that circles the areola and then goes straight down the center of the breast. This incision gives the surgeon more access to the breast tissue, which is useful for women with larger breasts or for those who need a more significant lift. This incision results in a longer scar that extends from the areola to the crease underneath the breast.
  • Anchor Incision: This type of incision circles the areola, goes straight down the center of the breast, and then travels horizontally along the crease underneath the breast. This incision gives the surgeon the most access to the breast tissue, which is suitable for severe drooping. This incision results in a prominent scar down the breast and under the crease.

After making the incisions, the surgeon will remove the excess skin. The remaining skin is lifted and reshaped to support the new breast contour. The nipple and areola are usually moved to a higher position, and the areola can be reduced in size. The incisions are then closed with sutures, and a surgical bra is placed to support the breasts as they heal. After a brief observation period, you can have someone drive you home.
